Why did I name my business Golden Ghostwriting? Because I mastered finding the “gold” or marketability of a book idea or manuscript when I became a Certified ghostwriter with master’s-level credentials.
It was perfect. I’ve always looked for the gold in people and situations. As an advertising copywriter, I won an an Andy Award for an ad for Avon Ultra Wear nail polish (and get this, I was still a secretary, at the time). As a women’s memoirist, I’ve dug deep to find the soul of my client-author’s stories. As a friend, I’ve created intimate, lasting connections. As a spouse … well, you get the idea. (This last one, especially, takes an ongoing amount of inner and outer work, but is worth it.)
I think my “seeking the gold” comes from my spiritual nature and exploring the big picture or “perfection” in life, no matter what’s happening. (And also being very right-brained.) I believe we are energetic beings with a propensity for healing. Living this way works for me. Every day, I gain more clarity, as I face life’s ups and downs and learn from them. I’ve done my own inner work and understand what healing is all about. I can help you connect the dots in ways you may not have seen before. I believe in memoir-as medicine, to write a compeling book that attracts readers and publishing experts.
I’m a story-healer and believe in memoir-as-medicine.
My niche is women’s memoir. I love helping compassionate, energetic women heal by connecting the dots in ways they may not have seen before. Shine a light on an essential nuance or dimension that might otherwise be left untold. I’m also your story “doula” helping you give birth to what I call the “highest expression” of your story.
To me, this means viewing life through the lens where everything has to happen exactly as it does—the good and bad, the ups and downs—for us to fulfill our life purpose and potential. This takes openness, trust and surrendering to your story. We’ll discover yours in the interviewing process, where I let the story lead and take us where it needs to go.
Then I’ll write. I’ve learned that holding this “big-picture” perspective is what makes a book inspiring. Insightful. Memorable. And marketable. Each of us has our own particular life experiences. Yet it’s your relfection about these experiences—that’s the take-away for your reader. That’s when she’ll say, “Yes, me too. I’m learning something about myself here,” even though her experiences are different than yours.
We’re all here to heal. That’s the power of memoir. We’re all so much more alike than different in that our “life lessons” overlap. Still there are a lot of memoirs out there. What will make yours most compelling?
Throughout my career, I’ve helped authors view their manuscripts through this golden lens. In fact, the curriculum I developed for the memoir Finding Zoe, for which I am an IPNE Book Award Finalist, has been used in Deaf universities.
I’ve also written a self-help book entitled, Your Heart Knows the Answer. It guides women to listen for and live according to their hearts wisdom. With the magnitude of misinformation and lonliness in the world today, the skills taught in the book are needed more than ever. In fact, after writing this book, I knew in my heart that my next step was becoming a women’s memorist.
